International Winter Operations Conference Brings Global Aviation Experts to Vancouver

Vancouver – Some of the world’s leading aviation experts will present the latest advances in safety at the third International Winter Operations Conference, to be held October 9-10 at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver.

Under the theme “Safety Is No Secret”, industry experts in all aspects of winter operations will share the latest technological advances and best practices from around the world, says Captain Barry Wiszniowski, Chair of the Air Canada Pilots Association’s Flight Safety Division.  “If you want to be on the cutting edge of aviation safety, you must hear the lessons these industry leaders have learned in their fields of expertise,” Captain Wiszniowski said.

Keynote speaker at the conference will be David McMillan, Chair of the Flight Safety Foundation, which is an international non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to provide impartial, independent, expert safety guidance and resources for the aviation and aerospace industry. Mr. McMillan, a former Director General of both Eurocontrol and Civil Aviation in the United Kingdom, kicks off the conference Wednesday morning with an address on global trends and emerging threats to aviation safety.

Local speakers include Heather McCarley, Manager Airside Operations, Vancouver Airport Authority.

Delegates will attend from Asia, Europe, Central and South America, as well as Canada and the United States.

The complete agenda and registration information are available at www.winterops.ca.

The International Winter Operations Conference is hosted by the Air Canada Pilots Association, the largest professional pilot group in Canada, representing the more than 3,000 pilots who fly millions of passengers across Canada and around the world on Air Canada and Air Canada rouge.
