Air Canada Pilots Re-Elect President, Choose New Secretary-Treasurer

TORONTO - Air Canada pilots have re-elected Captain Paul Strachan as President and elected Captain Jon Webster as the new Secretary-Treasurer of the Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA).

Captain Strachan was first elected President in August 2009 and is a former Chair of ACPA's governing Master Executive Council. He has been a pilot with Air Canada since 1999 and has operated a wide variety of military and commercial aircraft during his career. Captain Strachan is currently based in Toronto.

As President of ACPA, Captain Strachan represents Air Canada pilots to governments and public agencies, other pilot associations and employee groups, media and a range of stakeholders.

Captain Webster, who currently serves on ACPA's Audit and Finance Committee, is a graduate of Selkirk College and holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario. Captain Webster is also based in Toronto and has flown a number of different aircraft during his career with Air Canada.

As Secretary-Treasurer, Captain Webster will act as the association's chief financial officer, overseeing its budget, investments and financial administration.

Captain Webster will assume office in January 2011. He and Captain Strachan will serve until December 31, 2012.

Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA) is the largest professional pilot group in Canada, representing the more than 3,000 pilots who operate Air Canada's mainline fleet.
